A founder-focused podcast listening guide: pick the show for the problem
By Alice Huang, Chief of Staff and operator
Compare seven business-relevant podcasts by the question you want to answer: ideas, history, strategy, market views, technology or interviews.
You do not need another list ranked by how impressive the shows sound. Start with the question you are trying to answer.
These seven shows offer different ways into business questions. This is an editorial selection, not a universal ranking or an endorsement of every guest.
For business ideas and company breakdowns
My First Million's official description lists brainstorming ideas, interviewing builders and breaking down companies. Use it to find a question, then check the evidence for your customers and constraints.
For history and strategy
Founders, hosted by David Senra, uses biographies of business leaders. Acquired, hosted by Ben Gilbert and David Rosenthal, focuses on company histories and strategies. Both can prompt comparisons; neither makes another company's decisions transferable without context.
For current views and future technology
All-In covers business, technology and society through commentary and interviews. Moonshots with Peter Diamandis discusses technology with builders, investors and technologists. Treat views as views and forecasts as predictions.
For conversations with founders and other guests
David Senra's separate interview show complements Founders with living-founder conversations. The Diary Of A CEO, hosted by Steven Bartlett, has a broader guest mix, including business, culture and health. Pick a relevant business interview rather than assuming every episode is founder guidance.
Choose your next listen
- Name your question.
- Read the official episode description.
- Record the source and checked timestamp.
- Separate the speaker's claim from your interpretation.
- Leave with a question, test or decision to consider.
Broader shows can have useful business episodes too. They do not need a new label to belong in your life. And listening without turning it into a task is allowed.
